Giving Thanks for You!

In the spring of 1621 after a bitter winter, a Native American Indian, by the name of Squanto, came to the aid of the Pilgrims, weakened by malnutrition and illness.  He taught them how to survive in this new land by showing them how to cultivate corn, extract sap from maple trees, catch fish in the rivers and avoid poisonous plants.  He also helped the settlers forge an alliance with the Wampanoag, a local tribe, which would endure for more than 50 years and remains one of the sole examples of harmony between European colonists and Native Americans.  Squanto saved their lives.  He was their Hunger Hero!

Today, wonderful people like you continue to help people weakened by malnutrition and illness survive.  You give of your time to pack live-saving meals, your treasures by donating what you can to offset the cost of these meals and your talents in coordinating and hosting meal packing events for your organization.  Even amidst a pandemic, you will have provided almost 275,000 meals this year.  You saved lives as well here in the Fort Wayne area and around the world!

And, just as the Pilgrims celebrated their protectors and their generous hearts, we too take this time to celebrate your kindness and generosity.  On behalf of those lives you have saved, we thank you!

Thank you for being a Hunger Hero to those in dire need!
